Removing a problem BUSSID mod should be a small, controlled change. You usually do not need to delete the whole BUSSID folder or reinstall the game. The goal is to remove only the file causing the problem while preserving liveries and other user content.
1. Identify the exact file
Use the filename, download date and file size to identify the mod you want to remove. If you installed several files at once, move them to a temporary backup folder rather than deleting them immediately.
2. Close BUSSID first
Exit the game completely before moving or deleting mod files. This prevents the game from trying to read a file while it is being changed.
3. Make a backup
Copy important custom liveries and files you created yourself to a separate folder. A backup is especially useful before cleaning a folder that contains many similarly named versions.
4. Remove only the suspected mod
Move the specific .bussidmod or .bussidvehicle file out of the active location. Keeping it temporarily in a backup folder makes it easy to restore if it was not the cause.
5. Restart and test
Open BUSSID and repeat the action that previously caused the problem. If the crash or lag disappears, the removed file was likely involved. If nothing changes, continue troubleshooting one file at a time.
6. Clean old archives separately
ZIP/RAR files left in Downloads are not the same as the extracted active mod. Deleting an old archive can save space, but confirm you no longer need it for backup before removing it.
7. Do not delete the entire game folder casually
Large folders can contain more than downloaded mods. Deleting everything may remove saved user content or force you to reconstruct your setup. If a full reset becomes necessary, back up anything important first.
For performance problems, read the BUSSID lag and crash guide. For missing vehicles, use the mod-not-showing checklist.
