Many BUSSID installation problems begin before the game is opened: the player downloaded one type of file but expected another. Knowing the file type helps you decide whether to move it, extract it, import it or apply it as a livery.
.bussidmod
A .bussidmod file is commonly used for BUSSID community modifications. It may represent a vehicle or another supported mod package depending on how the creator built it. Keep the extension intact. If the creator supplies the file inside a ZIP archive, extract the ZIP first rather than renaming it.
.bussidvehicle
A .bussidvehicle file is another BUSSID-related vehicle format used by community content. Installation steps can vary with the game version and how the creator packaged the file, so follow the instructions from the original source when they are available.
ZIP and RAR archives
ZIP and RAR are containers. They can hold one or several files, documentation, images or multiple versions of a mod. BUSSID will not understand every compressed archive directly. Open/extract it and look for the actual file mentioned by the creator. If the archive is password protected, use only a password supplied by the original source; do not download “password unlocker” apps from unknown sites.
PNG and JPG livery images
A livery is usually an image applied to an existing compatible vehicle. Saving a livery image to your gallery does not create a new vehicle in Garage. You must select the correct bus or vehicle body and apply the image through the livery/paint workflow. A skin made for one body template can look stretched or misaligned on another.
APK files
An APK is an Android application package, not a normal BUSSID vehicle/livery file. If you are looking for a simple vehicle mod and are unexpectedly redirected to an APK installer, stop and verify what you are downloading. Do not disable Android security protections to install an unknown app.
Why renaming the extension does not work
Changing truck.zip to truck.bussidmod only changes the filename. It does not convert the contents. The same is true for images and APK files. If the format is wrong, return to the creator/source and download the intended file.
How to check the real extension
- Open the file manager.
- Use Details/Info to view the full filename and file type.
- If extensions are hidden, enable “show extensions” when your app provides that option.
- Watch for double extensions such as
vehicle.bussidmod.zip.
What to do next
If you have the correct file but it still does not appear, follow the BUSSID mod-not-showing checklist. If you downloaded an image, use the livery installation guide. For general installation, return to the main BUSSID mod installation guide.
